Winnipeg Youth Service Centre (WYSC) Is Born

Winnipeg Youth Service Centre (WYSC) is led by a team of youth (15-30) with diverse academic and employment backgrounds willing to address youth-related issues in socio-economic development of Manitoba. WYSC is aiming to build partnership between local, regional, national, and international youth services agencies and organizations for the betterment of youth. WYSC is to assist and provide every young person of the province to become a self-sufficient and productive citizen, an active worker, a taxpayer, a parent, and a law-abiding and peace-loving human being.

WYSC is to be the voice for new Canadian youth and prospective immigrants (international students and youth applicants for permanent residence who are living in Canada).

The focus of WYSC is to be a local resource, training, mentoring, and employment counselling centre for youth. WYSC is to build an organization to assist and support, through the full range of services, the youth in achieving their educational, vocational, developmental, social, and economic goals.

We strongly believe in the integrity, abilities, and potential of new Canadian youth; that all work has value; and that WYSC can assist youth in their development. We believe in the youth we will guide and serve the youth of Winnipeg as leaders and learners. WYSC believes that young people are entitled to respect and adult advocacy on their behalf.

The newly establish centre believes that all youth-serving programs and institutions must consciously and continuously work to open doors to opportunity and access, preparing youth to confront and overcome the persistent barrier of institutional racism.

Currently, the executives of WYSC can be reached by phone at: 204-221-5151 or by e-mail at: wysc_manitoba@yahoo.com.
